Sydni went to an optional competition in Bentonville this weekend to do her solo. We got there way ahead of time but they were running an hour ahead!! So she felt really rushed and didn’t get to stretch so it was a bit hectic! But she got out there and danced like an angel. I am so proud of her and how hard she works. She scored a platinum on her dance…the highest level.

First competition of the year! Sydni and her team looked awesome! She competes with the senior team now so all of her dances even her solo were on Sat night. It was nice just relaxing Fri night and taking our time getting there but it made for a very hectic Saturday! I was very thankful my mom was able to come and help and shop with me too 🙂 Sydni had a great convention! She was chosen for a teen scholarship which is so exciting! And she was even brought on stage to dance during one of the jazz classes! Her dances all received 4 high golds including her solo and a gold for the hiphop dance. They received a 5th place for the small group jazz and 1st for lyrical and their large group jazz was brought back the next day for an encore! SO COOL!

It was a very busy Christmas season for our family but everything worked out perfectly! I ended up directing our church’s children’s Christmas play. Not exactly sure how that happened but it was something that has been on my heart for a while now and I really thought it was important to do. So we did it! It was perfect! I may even do it again next year….:) Then the Lincoln Christmas at work and of course Sydni’s bday mixed in… it was a hectic here there and everywhere but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We had church services Christmas eve night then dinner as a family before opening gifs. Santa in the morning then to Nashville for the day. It was a wonderful holiday and can’t wait for next year!

Sydni had a great 13th birthday! Hard to believe shes finally a teenager! She had some awesome girls over and we went to dinner, shopping then a sleepover! I wasn’t sure how it would go with 6 kids! She wanted to invite more but my house is only so big! HA! Things were just right though and they were so good! Happy birthday to my beautiful girl! I am so very proud of the young lady you have become

Loved our cabin Thanksgiving this year! The cabin was beautiful and very roomy! The kids had a big playroom with pool table and the adults had a large living room and comfy couches. It was a perfect setup! We even got to bring Rozi this year which was a huge treat and I may not be able to leave her behind again!! It was so good to spend some quality time with Sean and Sarah and their families. Can’t wait for next year!

Sydni had a great time at Nuvo this year! This year her entire team went to take the classes and some competed with her. They all danced beautifully and represented their studio with style and grace and CLASS. Honestly I was surprised at how some of the other studios allowed their students to run all over the hotel. Clogging elevators and running down the halls. But not one of our kids. But I digress….The weekend was so fun! Sydni scored a GOLD on her solo. I was so happy for her! She has worked so hard! It is going to be a GREAT SEASON!

Great couple months for the Bottjen girls! Averi had her play and she was darling! She had so much fun and can’t wait to try out again. Averi also had her first Cotillion dance! She wasn’t all that excited about it but ended up having a great time. The season goes thru February. Jim and I had a quick weekend to LR for our birthdays then Sydni and I jetted off to Tulsa for a dance convention. Then we rounded off October with lots of Halloween festivities.

Summer ’17 is officially wrapped up and it was a good one! Averi was busy with her YAG play practice and Sydni has been involved with our church youth group, Forward Motion. School started up and Averi started 5th grade at elementary without her big sis for the first time! Sydni started 7th at JUNIOR high. It was a rough start but I think she has found her place and her rhythm. Things are always better for her when dance is in full swing and that’s next week and it can’t happen fast enough! My beautiful girls are growing so fast and I am so very proud of them. The things they are dealing with now are the things I have feared. But I try to remember every day that many are praying for them and most importantly He is looking over them always.
