We had another great beach vacation this year! The house we stayed at was the best ever! We loved it! And another year of perfect weather made this trip one of the best yet. Sarah’s fam and Sean’s fam made the trip and even Patti’s girls so it was the whole Norman gang! So fun to be together. I love these trips so much!

Another recital down! Every year this show gets better and better! The girls have learned so much. I could watch them dance all day long! Averi had 5 dances all on Thurs and Sydni had 5 on Thurs and 6 on Friday. It was a hectic week with not much sleep and lots of hairspray and mascara but we love love loved it!Ā And a special shoutout to my family and friends that came to watch these girls. It means so much to me to share their dancing!! I am so crazy proud of them!

Both my girls are born in the 2 busiest months of the year for our family. And honestly I love it!!! Recital month and Christmas are so fun and getting to celebrate my girls at the same time is perfect. Averi turned 11 right ahead of recital so we did a fun day of her favorites then after school was out we headed to Silver Dollar City. We let the girls bring a friend and I was really worried! The heat…the lines…the drive….but we all had a great time! The girls and their friends were troopers the whole time and had a blast riding all the rides. I am so proud of my beautiful Averi. She has a heart of gold and has her momma wrapped.

The Bottjen girls have had a great spring so far! Averi won a 3peat in book character day! I say we retire…not sure she will let me though! Sydni tried out for her school dance team and made the team! One of only 3 7th graders that did! So exciting! I can’t wait to watch her dance with this team!!! Averi’s team science project was picked from her grade to compete in the city wide Stem Wars and they placed 2nd!!!! Both girls have done these projects before but never placed so we were thrilled!

This last competition of the year was bitter sweet. The kids did so well and I loved seeing how much better they have gotten over the season. I always enjoy this one the most because I feel like they do their best and its doesn’t feel as stressful! This company season has been magical again and I can’t wait to watch them next year! Sydni is so blessed to have these kids, parents and teachers in her life. We are both very grateful.

We spent Easter Saturday in Nashville. Sydni had dance the night before so we had to make it a day trip. But we still had a great day! Yummy food and a super fun egg hunt with candy AND money eggs! That can help coax a 13 yr old to play š Then we spent Sunday at our church. We had a wonderful weekend! He is risen!

We had the BEST family cruise ever this year! The 2 rooms helped with that I think! HA! The ports were so fun and the weather was glorious again! We were so blessed. Swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman’s turquoise water was unreal and climbing the Dunn’s river falls from bottom to top hand in hand as a family was so special š I loved the entire thing and can’t wait to do it again!

Sydni started asking to go to this dance convention last year. And if you know anything about conventions….they are pricey! Especially the big nice ones….like Radix! So I told her ok but you have to ask for Christmas….thinking that would shut her down. Oh no. Radix was number #1 on her list. So I stalled for a while….you will be the ONLY one there from your studio I told her but she had already decided. So with some help from Gran and Pap we were able to buy her a ticket to the competition too to do her solo.Ā AndĀ of course Mrs. Rebecca worked her magic….and off we went to Dallas. This convention was the best of the best of the best. Unreal and amazing dancing! It was so fun! Sydni was a bit initimidated at first I think…She really wanted Shurelle there when she performed and she has always had her dance friends in classes like this but she plowed in there like she owned the place. I couldn’t be more proud. š One of her first classes was Modern…something she has never taken before. The teacher told them he would be teaching theĀ “Graham technique”. He then asked who had taken that before and only 4 kids raised their hands. And I told her “well now you will be one of the 4!” I think something clicked with her then and she realized what an opportunity she had. Oh and momma got some barre classes in too š So a good weekend was had by all!

Year 4 at DMIĀ and its still just as exciting! I love watching these kids dance! Every year they get better and better and its a privilege for Sydni to be a part of it.Ā Ā Many adults could definitely learn something from their perseverance,Ā dedication and loyalty to each other.Its a beautiful thingĀ to see. Not to mention the beautifulĀ dances they did.Ā And I just can’t say enough about how dedicated these teachers are. I appreciate them so much. They probably won’t realize how much until they have kids of their own and know how importantĀ it is to have suchĀ positive role models around their children.

We are off and running into 2018! Sydni got to do her solo at a local pageant. AndĀ big newsĀ for her this month is she got GLASSES! SheĀ looks so cute in them šĀ Averi wrapped up her cotillion season with 2 more dances. The last one we got to go with her. It was so fun seeing her all dressed up with her friends and getting to dance with her daddy <3
