Well we 5 kids pulled off a beautiful reception for Mom and Hix’s 30th wedding anniversary! I have been wanting to do it for a while and their 30th on the 30th was perfect! We went to church then lunch then reception following. I was so glad so many people came to celebrate with us! They are so important to our family so it was nice to get to show them how loved they are! Happy Anniversary you two!

Christmas has to be my favorite time of year! Actually its my entire family’s favorite time of year! We had such a great holiday driving around in our pjs looking at lights and making cookies with our besties and celebrating our Savior’s birth at our church. Then dinner together with presents after…Santa in the morning then to Nashville to finish off the day with more family. I was so sad to see it end but look forward to 2019! oh…and we got a bird. Yay. 😉

When you have a 2 bday parties 2 weeks before the actual bday because the kiddo is too busy any other time it seems you celebrate a very long time! BUT she is worth it! We had a great couple weeks celebrating our Sydni Beth. I was afraid bad weather was coming in for her actual bday party night and I had planned this fun little scavenger hunt thru the mall for Sydni and her friends to find her coveted new iPhone. So I was able to round up a few of her friends and SURPRISE her the night before the actual party. It was SO fun and she was SO surprised! Then we had her actual party the next night…Fuji, mall and sleepover! We are so blessed by this beautiful redheaded whirlwind! I wouldn’t have her any other way <3

We had a great Thanksgiving with our Norman fam! Our cabin was beautiful and although smaller than years past it had super fast wifi so no one complained! We had yummy food and fabulous football…minus the Hogs. So glad we have continued our cabin tradition! Its one of my fave weeks of the year

One of my favorite months has come and gone! We were crazy busy but so much fun! Sydni was in full swing with her drill team at the junior high football games and even managed to fit in time to try out for All Region Choir and 14th chair Alto 2!!! As a former band nerd I am so proud of this!!!! Jim and I spent the weekend in LR for our bdays and met up with Mom, Sarah and the girls for shopping!!! We ended the month with Halloween. Trunk or Treat is always one of my most fave church events and it was the best ever this year!

Nuvo was the start to the competition season and it was a great one! Sydni performed her solo for the first time Fri night and was beautiful scoring a gold!! I was so proud of her calm spirit and grace. She was a joy to watch! Her teacher Andrea did an amazing job on this dance and I can’t wait to watch it more throughout the year. It is truly beautiful! Sat and Sun were full of classes and Syd did great!! On Sunday she was chosen as a standout in Jazz and Contemporary. SO COOL!!! She has a great team of teachers and teammates this year! I am so thankful she is surrounded by positivity and encouragement. That isn’t always the case as a teen. Sydni is so blessed to be a part of this dance group!

Its been a hectic month full of school, dance, play and MORE! I am so proud of my girls and how hard they work and how beautiful they are. Inside and out. Being a kid in this day and age isn’t easy and they make mistakes. Trying to navigate the waters of preteen and junior high drama is way more difficult than I was prepared for but we are learning and I know God is in control. I am trying to teach them kindness and humility and to take the high road. The pressures of this world tell our kids to do the exact opposite. I am not always a perfect mom. In fact I probably never am. But I hope God can speak thru me in spite of all my mistakes. And they are learning. I feel it is so important to be involved and present in their lives …despite their protests at times. I am so thankful that I have a husband who supports me and provides for our family and a job that allows me to pursue my career and be a mom to my girls right now when they need me the most. We had a great month and October is looks to be even more fun! Happy fall!

Well we have wrapped up summer and started up 6th and 8th grade. Sydni has been busy dancing with company and practicing with her drill team and Averi has been working on her play with YAG!! We have had so much fun but its about to get super crazy busy this fall! And I can’t wait!

We made our annual trek north to visit Jim’s family in Nebraska. This year Tiff found a really fun zipline ropes course at a state park nearby. We had a blast! We did some shopping…YAY! And had a lovely date night as well one night…something Jim and I don’t get to do very often so that was really nice! I even squeezed in a barre class one morning 🙂 We ended the trip with a family bbq which was lots of fun and we got some great pics too! We always have a great time with the Northern Bottjens! We don’t get to hang out enough!

The girls wrapped up the school year with awesome grades and lots of activities! Averi did a really cute wax museum project and Sydni had lots to do with her Royal Blues friends! Sydni tried out for company and made the team for the 5th year! And we just found out she was chosen to do a solo again! Along with 4 group dances! Its going to be a crazy fun year again! Averi participated in a street dance trying to beat the world record but sadly we didn’t have enough people. We danced anyway though and had a great time! The girls did summer dance through June and Sydni went to our church’s youth camp. She had a ball! Averi went to VBS at our church…her last one before shes a big kid like Syd and joins youth! Averi also tried out for YAG’s summer play. We don’t know if she got a part yet! We found out TOMORROW! So excited for her!
