Annual trip to Crystal Beach was this week!!! Always such a good time <3 I absolutely loved the house we found this year and the weather was PERFECT…we couldn’t have asked for more. And Rozi got to come too!! YAY! She did great!! (in the house …shes not a beach dog) Patti, Laini and Reagan got to come visit too! It was so good to see them and catch up. Can’t wait for next year!
Averi and her cheer team got to attend the NCA cheer camp in Hot Springs this week!! Sooooo happy covid didn’t ruin this!!!! <3 She had so much fun and worked REALLY HARD. It was so fun to watch her cheer and compete! I literally think shes the prettiest cheerleader I have ever seen 🙂 So excited for football season! YAY! Go Mavs!
Somehow my baby girl went off and turned 14 on me! Shes such a great kid and makes being her mom so easy. I adore her <3 even in these cranky teen years! Since her bday is smack dab in the middle of May and everything is going on all at once we just did a little party at home for her on her actual day then the next weekend took her and her friends to Hochatown for the weekend to zipline! We had such a great time!
What a great last group competition weekend!! Sydni and her team went to TOP Hot Springs this year. Great location and great new dancers to compete against! Sydni did her solo first which was gorgeous scoring double diamond and 7th overall competitive. Her groups did amazing!! Nutty scored a diamond, Undertow scored double diamond and 7th overall, Reality scored double diamond and 4th overall then Reborn scored double diamond and 5th overall and Judges pic AND category cup for lyrical! Thats highest lyrical score of all levels ages 13 and up!! WOOT! AND THEN their studio was chosen for Best Technique of the night! AH! Such an honor <3 Somehow we regrouped and the seniors performed their duo and trio both scoring double diamond with duo placing 5th and trio placing 10th! AWESOME weekend for an AWESOME group of kids, mothers, fathers and their awesome TEACHER!
Spring time at the Bottjen house! And thats means tryouts and lots of dance comps! A super fun time of year 🙂 Sydni made the Southern Belles dance team again for her upcoming junior year and Averi made the cheer team for the brand new Southside Freshmen Center opening in the fall! I am so excited that both my girls will be Mavericks! This school year is winding down and I am so thankful we made it thru first of all healthy and also ALL in person! WOOT! Looking forward to a much more normal year in the fall please! And somehow I didn’t get a pic of the girls together so you get a Rozi pic as your thumbnail this time 🙂
We ended up in Baton Rouge this year for DMI. It was the only venue that worked with our schedule and I love that these girls are willing to try something new and new competition!! At the time it didn’t sound that far but the closer the date came the more I dreaded the drive! Jim came to the rescue and went with us though. We made it a fam thing and drug Averi along too ANDDD Rozi! We have never taken her to anything like this before and she was SO GOOD!! ANYWAY….the drive wasn’t tooooo bad (but it was still really long!). The kids made it worth it though bc they danced beautifully!! Sydni got a 1st place score on her solo…only 6/10ths of a point from the next tier! She did well in auditions too making it to the final round! Her groups and duo all scored 1st and her pointe trio got a 2nd place score. “Undertow” (one of the groups) and “Make Believe” (her duo) got selected as a judge’s pick at the wrap up ceremony which was really exciting! This was Sydni’s last convention of the year (couple more comp onlys left in May) and I was sad to see it end. But next year is going to be even BETTER!
It was so awesome to be able to celebrate Easter like “normal” again!! Averi and I volunteered at our church’s Stations of the Cross then on Saturday we went down to Nashville for lunch and an egg hunt. Sunday we celebrated at church WITHOUT A MASK (woot!), had a lovely lunch at PT Manor then had a family hike. It was a gorgeous day!
Well our Spring Break cruise was cancelled AGAIN so we decided to get a house in Florida for the week! We headed down and stayed the night with my bestie Kim and her fam in Gulf Breeze and got a chance to visit. Then we drove over to Rosemary for the week. SO LOVELY. Our house was the perfect size and the grounds were just beautiful!! It was a little cool that week so we only got 1 beach day which was a bummer. But we did lots of fun shopping, eating and biking around! The biking was so fun (once a certain someone remembered how…Syd…haha)! We loved it and can’t wait to go back!
Last year Radix was canceled the day before it started due to our friend the rona so its been a long time coming for this year!!!! And this year Sydni’s new company signed up to do GROUP dances there! SO FUN! We love Radix! It has such a great vibe with fundamental classes and amazing instructors. Plus the insane competition….just awesome dancing!
Sydni’s solo scored high gold Her duo scored high gold Her trio scored high gold Reborn scored high gold Reality scored high gold Undertow scored high gold and was chosen as a Best of Radix Nutty scored gold
We are on a roll with 2021! The girls’ basketball seasons started us so theres lot of cheering and dancing even amid the quarantines (yes…Averi got quarantined AGAIN) and historic snowfall. Sydni’s competition season is also in full swing so if shes not competing somewhere she is practicing somewhere! With the new freshman center being built and Ramsey going from a junior high (7-9th) to a middle school (6-8th) this is Averi’s first and last year to cheer as a ram. Its much more sad than I anticipated. I am not sure I am ready for her to go the high school. I wasn’t ready for Sydni to go as a 10th grader!!! Anyway there are pics from her last game too so it was really sad! Shes gearing up for the first ever freshman academy cheer team tryouts in a few weeks though! Also during all that ridiculous snow I got some gorgeous pics of the girl to remember it!! I love them! The snow and the girls <3
